Food Fundamentals
Our Food Fundamentals programme is an opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to learn essential cookery skills in a safe, friendly, and encouraging environment. Participants will learn how to make delicious, healthy, cost-effective meals and gain confidence in the kitchen. This course will also serve as a great foundation for anyone considering a career in catering or cookery.
Programme structure:
Participants will spend an hour per week across six weeks in our community kitchen learning the follow skills:

Kitchen hygiene, familiarisation with utensils, ovens, hobs

The importance of nutrition and balanced healthy eating principles

Learning about flavours and ingredients

Confidence to create meals from surplus food and leftovers

One pot cookery such as delicious stews and curries

Healthy breakfasts and brunches
