Mood and Food

Join us for our Mood and Food course. This course is specifically designed to look at the relationship between food, nutrition and mental health.  Cooking can be incredibly empowering, helping to build confidence and creativity, as well as being a wonderful way to connect with others through the shared process of dining.

Who’s this for?

This course is aimed at individuals with lived-experience of mental health issues, and those at risk of experiencing mental health issues such as isolated or disadvantaged groups. The classes will be friendly, welcoming, and safe, with safeguards being put in place to ensure the safety of all participants and staff.

Programme structure:

Participants will spend an hour per week across six weeks in our community kitchen learning the follow skills:

  • Learning and improving knife and kitchen skills

  • Gaining knowledge of flavours and ingredients

  • Discussing the connection between what we eat and how we feel

  • Exploring key messages around healthy eating

  • Growing in experience and confidence to create tasty meals with low-cost ingredients, including using up leftovers and batch cooking
